Tastes of the Valley Wolfville Farmer’s Market

Entrance to the Wolfville Farmers Market

There is no denying that Wolfville, and the Annapolis Valley as a whole, is a mecca for amazing restaurants, farmers, and artisan food producers. This reputation is growing by finger licking leaps and bounds year after year with events like Devour! The Food Film Fest, Apple Blossom Festival, Pop-up Chef events, and Community Suppers at the Wolfville Farmers Market.

With such a dizzying array of goodness, there is simply no way to sample all of the glorious offerings during a day trip to the Valley…

….Or is there? Oh yes, my friend, there certainly is. The 9th annual Tastes of the Valley happens this Saturday July 26th starting at 8:30 am. For a measly $3 you can sample locally sourced mini plates from some of the best and most creative food thinkers in the province.

Seriously, $3 to gorge your way through what I like to consider the jewel of Nova Scotia. I know, right? Crazy!

While you’re shoving your 4th or 5th mini plate down, take a moment to really look at the ingredients. All locally sourced, and readily available at the Wolfville Farmers Market every Saturday morning (year round) and in the scrumptious dinners served at the Community Suppers held there every Wednesday night (May-Dec) There is a pride out here for all of the incredible fruits, veggies, breads, cheeses, chocolates & meats that this fertile Valley is filled with, and in no place is that more evident than a Saturday morning at the market. There’s something special about shaking the hand of the farmer who just provided the ingredients for your dinner, and a reassurance in knowing they were all grown, raised or made with the love and care of someone with a passion for good food.

Is your mouth watering yet? It should be. Without breaking the bank & the belly by hitting every delicious spot in the Valley, do your self a big favour and hit Tastes of the Valley instead. If you’re unfamiliar with the Annapolis Valley, this is a fabulous introduction, and if you live here, it’s the perfect excuse to take pictures, tweet & post the hell out of them, and make everyone that lives away extremely jealous. (Yeah, I know, I’m that girl.)

I’ll be judging the event again this year, so swing by and say hi. I’ll be the one with a mouth too full to speak, but I’ll wave and maybe make weird noises. Come early though, I intend to be in a food coma by 12:48pm
